Came across this today in an advert, I've read the blurb on the website but just think the words don't say all they need to:

1). car charger supplied but no input socket on the diagram, so does it use 3 and 4 combined to CDM socket?
2). if I were to but one of these i would want it stealthed on the car, thus eliminating most of the features, so you hard wire it ( fused of course ) and try and find somewhere to hide a fairly large box
3). the "Goo Track" software only comes back as a hit on their websire, so how good is it? Also seems to be called "Gootrac"
4). a mains charger with 2 pins
5). why usb connections

or am I missing something? If you click on the picyure it opens a window with more detail:

Hi Steve,

Been digging around on internet and found the following;
1) The car charger appears to connect to the usb cable and this is where the power input comes into the unit.
2) Yeah, seems to be correct but looks like you may need the "optional" battery back-up which seems to have a 5v and a dc5v input for wiring in.
3) Can't find much about the software at the moment, check out the link below though - has a rather neat looking demo.
4) US Stock so looks like you would need a travel adapter.
5) usb is certainly used for power input but I guess for setting up the quick dial numbers etc?

The link below has some more detailed info - hope this helps :)

This appears to be similar to devices used by fleet owners, haulage firms in UK to keep track of their vehicles/drivers via a central location. Many UK hauliers use these to ensure drivers are on correct route, check if they are where they should be, if they are in layby when they may claim to be in traffic holdup.

I think you may be confusing these with devices used solely to locate vehicles following theft. Whilst I did notice that it says that it can be used in this way, it looks to have been designed mainly for fleet usage.

Cheers guys, a bit of an over kill for what I wanted then.
