After reading the instructions on how to sync a key to you car, I expected it to say posted on the 1st of April!!

However, I'd suggest emailing them and asking them the very same question...

B.T.W.

I've heard of some Lexus Owners having trouble with their keys no longer working in their cars.
Could this seemingly ridiculous list of instructions on how to sync a key to your car, be the solution?

Taken from the Lextasy Site
1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals 1 time.

2. Insert existing master key into ignition.

3. Within 15 seconds depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times.

4. Within 20 seconds depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and remove key.

5. Within 10 seconds insert new key into ignition.

6. Within 10 seconds depress and release the accelerator pedal 1 time.

7. After 80 seconds new key is registered and security light goes off. 8. Remove new key and depress and release brake pedal 1 time.

It doesn't sound that far fetched, on the Renaults (about 5 years ago) they used to go through this odd process with the door open lever, opening it 10 times or so with the keys in etc etc.

Its an easy way for technicians to reprogram keys when they go out of sync or get a new one.

You never know!

When my keys went out of sync for the second time the guy at Lexus Stockport did a similar wierd thing half turning the ignition, locking and opening the doors using the lock button. He said you can attach a machine to to it but that way was quicker.
Fraid I can't remember the exact sequence or number of turns and clicks.

Cor blimey. All that locking, unlocking, accelerating, braking and the like. Do you reckon the Lexus bloke that designed the electrics was in the Masons?

Or maybe he kept dropping one  and had to keep opening the door to let it out

Can someone tell me........does this method of sync'ing a brand new key work ? seems far fetched, but equally feasable I guess.

Oh, also....my new key has the boot release button on it, but the only other one I have doesn't. I have a 2000W IS200sport - will the boot release button work if I sync my new key myself, or do I have to go to Lexus to do it ?

Thanks all
