Yes...it makes more noise, uses more fuel and puts more stress on the engine and gearbox

Think it changes around 6500 rpm, but not sure if it's the same rev limit as when it's in Auto ECT mode...the manual mode just holds it to the limit in every gear. The set limits must be well within the safe parameters of the design, so don't worry about it.
