just about to get parts for a garage to do my belt, it is a 99 is200 se with 91k miles, should i do a water pump just for piece of mind,

also what do you call the red coolant in the cooling system and how much do i need, dont want him putting in any old stuff.

thanks

RE: coolant use only the Toyota/Lexus genuine stuff, if you can afford to get the water pump done,
it will save you lots of money if it fails later as the timing belt has to come off to replace it.
Also get them to change the idler pulley (some places only change the Timing belt & tensioner)

According to the handbook matey the IS200's coolant capacity is 7.1ltrs and lexus reccomend a 50/50 mixture , 50% antifreeze and 50% water using the Toyota long life coolant which is ethylene-glycol type for the best mix and protection, so just over 3.5ltrs of the toyota long life needed for the system. also says in the book not to use any alcohol type coolant as the Ethylene-Glycol protects the aluminium engine components biggrin.gif

Any ethylene-glycol antifreeze is fine, does not have to be Toyota/Lexus, other brands do long life stuff too although it is not a neccessity to have the long life, just personal preference at the end of the day.
