can anybodt oint me to where the positive and negative are on the alternator??

dont want to guess and end up blowing the lot up!!

But looking at it, theres only one big wire thats straight to the positive terminal of the battery,

The other plug has a few wires in it for the electronics.

i looked that way to me but wasnt sure...

i have the tech stuff on the link you posted but couldnt figure it out!!

where is the ground? is it just any part of the casing??

As far as i know yes.

Try getting a 12v lamp or something else twelve volt, connect one side to the positive of the battery, then the negative side to the casing of the alternator and see if it works?

Negative is on the battery , positive on the alternator will be the thick wire.tongue.gif

@stav - why didnt i think of that!! (walks off to get the old multimeter out!!)

@durrantie - still need to find the earthing point of the alt - above shoudl help..

Hi Redz,
looking from above the positive terminal is under the rubbery cap at the toprear.
(use a multimeter to check but that's where it is on mine, fitted another power cable from alternator to battery from it the other week)

I have some 4AWG Red Cable cut to the correct length from alternator positive to battery positive,
if anyone wants to buy me a cold beer at JAE they get one...
(I have 3 or 4 cable offcuts I think, I have 4AWG ring terminals to suit too @ cost whistling.gif)
