you dont need one, the engine/ supercharger doesn't produce enough crankcase pressure to warrant getting one

i dont even run one on the Monster as the breather system as fitted by Toyota is still effective even though the engine is modified

you would only need one if the crankcase pressure was so great that oil vapour was being pushed out into the induction system

if you did fit one i could be pretty sure that in 5 years time you could check the contents of the canister, and it will still be ...erm, empty

Its just a bit more Bling in the engine bay mate,.

I have one but i don't have a turbo/supercharger.

The way i see it that if it stops the smallest amount of oil vapour getting back into the engine then it can only be good! Plus it looks great under the bonnet whistling.gif

but it doesnt, ...thats part of the point.

you still have most of your cars crankcase breather and rocker cover breathers connected into the induction system, so by having one breather point going to the catch can, does nothing

Oh, Jason, I feel partly responsible for bringing it up. I am sorry.

Matt, thanks for the advice, you really are a fountain of knowledge.

A couple of other points; The pipe on my induction kit looks badly twisted and bodged into place and just looks like it was designed to go in the other direction! (I hope you know what i mean!) Also, I think i remember reading on here somewhere that someone (Rob, possibly) had stripped the charger down and found oil where it shouldn't have been (don't quote me on that thou.)

EDIT: Image of indution kit

What you can do, (as i have), is not feed it back to the induction as your ment too. (the idea is all emissions exit the same way, the exhaust).

But instead, have it coming from the crank case, to the catch can, then a little filter on the other side to atmosphere. and just block up the hole on the induction kit.

but there are other breather pipes which still go to the induction so you are not.....using the catch can to its full effect, as negative pressure created by the vacuum from the induction system will draw air in through your little filter, through your catch can and back into the rocker cover

In other words you don't need one! but get one if you like Shiney things under your bonnet laugh.gif

Hit the nail on the head there!

Yes the pipe for the breather does twist because it is incorrectly moulded into the induction kit - all the kits i have seen are like this so its a problem with the master mould.

i did strip the SC but there was not a problem with the oil - its just that there was a small amount of dirt oil mix had built up in the SC over time.
