Just given the car a good clean, and noticed despite my best efforts the seagull excrement remains as a stain on the paint.

Now I know black is a beautiful colour when clean, but it is hard to maintain.

The car had the dealer option of supaguard, at the moment I don't know what is super about it or how it guards it, but if I cannot remove the stains it will be going back to the garage as they said any paint problem will be rectified as part of the supaguard protection policy.

Before I do that and before I buy a cover, does anyone have experience or removing/curing this problem.

I use Halfords Bug & Tar Remover. It seems very effective on this.

The seagull crap has etched the paint so the only way to recover the finish is to to use a fine polish like http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/po...sh/prod_43.html or if you're lucky you may get away with a much finer polish like http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/po...er/prod_46.html.
To be honest I think the Supaguard is a complete rip off. I made the mistake of having it on my IS200 Sport, but didn't repeat it on my 250 which gets well pampered with a polish when it needs it, and use of a long life acrylic sealant. Also gets a coating of Carnauba wax after a wash, and I find any bird crap washes off without having etched the paint.

Mate , I feel for ya , I had this on my black IS , ask Wozza , two great big splodges on the bonnet and it had been baked on by the sun , It took ages to soak it and remove it and when it came off it had eaten into the paint terribly , I could have cried , ( airgun time ) I found this sollution to my problem , T-Cut scratch remover from halfords for about £6 bucks , I buffed and buffed it with this , yes its quite abbrasive but no paint seemed to be removed (ie the cloth wasn't black just the t-cut colour) it seemed to be doing the trick apart from it was leaving the paint like it had been scoured , I persevered till it looked like it had gone then I buffed the paint up with Autoglym super resin polish and it brought the paint back to the fine gloss of before , I then bought a £15.00 quid buffer from Screwfix and buffed the whole car with the super resin polish and thank God it was back to perfect , here's a few pics after. Seagulls don't seem to hang around on the rooftops since the addition of the airgun and a peice of red cloth tied around my forhead . Lol .

after you get the burn sorted buy the carlack system,my car is almost two and a half years old and has no acid burns from bird droppings.regular application is the key factor there are no miracle answers.

The Seagull was more like a Golden Eagle Paul it was the worst I had ever seen,
I think if left more than a day would have eaten through to the engine bay.

Hi mate, ive just bought this incredible stuff called ProShine, it has Carbanau wax in it, you dont need to wash your car, just spray, rub in, then buff up, it cleans birds s**t, tar marks, insect splodges etc etc, have a wee look at www.netparts.co.uk and have a read for yourself, i was a bit sceptical but having tried lots of diffetent wax's/polishes over the years i thought i'd give it a try, it does exactly what it says on the tin. you can use this stuff on windows, plastic, alloys etc.

I know i sound like a sales rep for the company but it's the best stuff i've ever used and it takes no time to do your car, i done my whole car, including windows inside and out, plus wheels in 45 mins.
