I need front discs for my IS300 as well as change the pads. I've not checked the rear discs.

From the threads on the site I've gone for Lexus pads.

I'm a firm believer that, on the whole, you get what you pay for. I'm therefore looking a bit more upmarket than other threads on discs.

I can go for Lexus discs (not priced them up yet) or for some upmarket after-market discs. A general Google doesn't show up any recommendations and eBay has a few drilled and vented discs, but at getting on for £200 I think I need to do some research.

Anyone got any advice?

Cheers,

Ian

ps. Why do you pay more for drilled & vented discs when you get less material? Ha ha.

Hi Ian, on my 1st lexus i had Brembo disc's and pads fitted x 4 was very good biggrin.gif

On the 2nd lexus i got the DBA Gold disc's x 4 with Mintex pads, again very good, and the Gold bits did/have satyed Gold biggrin.gif

Both set was drilled & slotted biggrin.gif

You have to pay someone to drill the holes in the disc, that why thay cost more tongue.gif

If your not looking for drilled + grooved then you cant really go wrong with the mintex brand. While they are cheaper than Lexus ones they perform as well and have the added benefit of less brake dust. You can get all 4 sets of pads and discs off Ebay for under £200. Which reminds me i need to shell out for a set soon!

If you do want drilled and/or grooved then the sky is the limit.

Do the Mintex discs rust at the first hint of water, like the OEM discs ?

Huh? All discs rust, they are just bare metal, i didn't think some rusted quicker than others. Unless you want some carbon brakes.

Anyway try e-bay, one of the sellers is selling some mintex sets, discs and pads for a lot less than you'd buy pretty much anywhere else. I just bought a set of front discs and pads for £70, that is a bargain.
