NP I get about 2000 emails per day and there on my business email addy which is a real PITA

Yeah, brain wasn't in gear.
Reading the info on the luxlink, once it's installed, am i right in thinking the roof can be opened with one press of the dash button instead of holding it?
The other thing i didn't try was opening it while moving (slowly) through traffic. Does it let you or is it interlocked?

I still haven't got a bloody car yet sad.gif I'm getting pretty sick of looking tbh. rolleyes.gif That cream leather/dark wood combo i want is proving illusive. The black leather/dark wood is looking favourite now as they seem more readily available.

I have the original Luxlink and it does lack some of the features of the later one. TBH im happy just to open and close the top remotely so I wont go through with the trouble of importing in a newer one and refitting.

Im pretty sure the new one does one touch open/close and rear quarter window opening/closing but it wont allow you to operate the roof at speeds over 5mph.

Off down to London (ilford) on monday evening to look at a car.
It's got 88k on the clock with 20" rims, sports suspension and stainless zorsts. Dark blue, black leather, dark wood.
Hopefully this will prove to be the one. What's the cost of a cam belt service? What else should i be looking for?
aquanuke
Seems alot of miles unless its real cheap. Ive not had the timing belt done as Ive only got 15k on mine so no idea on the price.

Theres a 2003 with 36k that looks like it will go cheap

"What else should i be looking for? "

Not much really, 02 sensors, boot gas shocks, stone chips Japanese cars have soft paint.
lizzy borden
It's up for £10499. That one on ebay is start bid of £13k. I may wait and see what it does at the risk of missing the other.

You may just want to get the right car and add the extra's that you require.

The reason i say this is the right colour is important and the things like the interior colours can be changed.
My leather was changed i add a few things like double stitching in the colour of the car and i had the embossed Lexus logo's addded again to the paint work colour all for £1200.
Again there is the option of changing the wood colours, as while at Jae this weekend i saw another vehicle that had this done, i think the guy paid a couple of hundred pounds for this, this was on the gs model car, but said he felt that the SC could be done as well.
I would stay with your first choice of the light leather because the car can and will get hot if you don't have the roof, this is only my opinion.

I am sure your find a car that you can knock down the price and add these extra to make your own stamp on your car.

I just had my cam belt changed early at 70,000 miles, it cost me at a specalist Lexus garage £500.
I think that aquanuke is correct on the things that he told you to look out for.

Looking forward to seeing what your bought and good luck because it is a buyers market....

Cheers Ian.
I'm on a tight budget for now as my wedding is fast approaching (4th oct). So the one at £10499 looks very attractive.
Since it already has some nice rims and the zorsts and suspension sorted I think it's a good buy (when i wave the notes under his nose i'm pretty sure i'll get it for £10k).
Colour changes aren't a prob for me as i did my MK3 Soarer last year.Click to view attachment From this;

The changes you made look good so what plans do you have should you go ahead with the purchase?

Buddy you have a whole year to get it ready for next JAE which will be cool, as i for one i would like to see other Sc430 there, as i am sure the rest of the club would.

Only thing is hope the new wife is happy for you to make all the changes you require to your car...

Hope to here your aboard tomorrow... and i wish you and your future wife the very best wishes for October the 4 sorcerer.gif

Thanks Ian!

Not over sure on any mods just yet apart from the Wald body kit. I think i'm just gonna play with it for a bit first.
My soarer is undergoing major mods at the mo so i don't have a car. (i'm using my van).
One of the lexii will be at JAE next year i hope lol

I have to be careful, this is my wedding prezzi to my better half, so i can't let her see me putting anything on here.
I've parked it at my office for now while i get the Luxlink fitted.
The only issue with it is it needs a new screen (£70 on insurance ) and the driver wing mirror won't retract.
I've got a couple of weeks to sort them out so no problem. I got it for a VERY good price however. and with a 12 month warranty form a major dealer (volvo). It's got FSH and they fitted new boot struts, new brake pads all round and 2 new tyres plus 12 months tax before i picked it up. Cushty! driving.gif I'm off to get me and the best man kitted out today with suits so i'll take some pics when we get back.

Hi Mate,
Congrats on the new car and get some quick pics up.
How easy was it to get the luxlink and how much was it if you dont mind the question pm me if you want.
Also where are you getting it installed and again how much. Sorry about the questions but want to get his sorted on my SC so all info will be very gratefully recieved.
Congrats again on your new car and welcome to SC ownership.
Regards
Chaz

Hi Chaz.
Cheers.
I'll be fitting the Luxlink myself. I'm a sparky and me and my mate have a small business making custom SS exhausts/manifolds etc. We also do turbos etc to order, mostly on soarers. (we both have a TT)

The Lux is £200 ish quid delivered from their website.

Thanks for the answers mate.
Let us all know how you get on with the install.
Im sure most Sc owners would like the luxlink but are put off by the install.
If yours goes ok you might get a few asking you to install theirs aswell (Me included)
Now lets see some pics and updates
Regards
Chaz.

The Luxlink is fitted, but not working cry.gif
The colours of the connections to pick up are different to that of the LHD models (which is what the instructions specify).
I've since obtained the schematics for the roof ECU and have found the problem. When i eventually get the car back from Autoglass (they've had it a week now censored.gif ) i'll correct the prob asap.
The install is not for the novice, but wasn't a problem to myself.

If anyone want's help or this doing for them, please let me know. msn-wink.gif

Hi Mate
Hope you get the car back soon,
Glad you can sort the luxlink it should be a cool mod.
How long to fit it to the car do you think now you have the correct info and how much would you charge(pm me by all means if you wish).
Keep up the good work
Chaz
lizzy borden
Hi Chaz.
The Luxlink can be fitted in around half a day or less. Mine came with the remote start option, which i decided not to fit as it involves 'losing' one of the keys inside the car. Anyone ordering with this option should be prepared to fork out for another spare key if you need 2 to hand. Otherwise i wouldn't bother.
I'll price fitting as soon as i'm sure of the operation of my own. (still not got it back).
He told me he ordered the parts last fri, but i walked in on him yesyerday just as he was ordering them from Toyota. W***er!.
aquanuke
I guess you don't have the valet key. It's a little thin plastic key that only starts the car, does not open the boot, glove box, console etc but does disable the imobiliser. There's also another key that looks like a credit card.
Chaz B
Hi Mate.
Thanks for the info. Let me know when you are sorted and we can chat again.
Aquanuke where did you sort your luxlink and do you have all the keys mentioned above.Did you get them with the car or order them from Lexus.
Regards
Chaz

I had mine fitted at www.carradioalarms.com in Sutton surrey. But they have closed down their branch and im not sure if they have relocated elsewhere although their website is still running.

It took him about 4 hours to install both roof and starter and he said he could probs do it next time in about 2 hours. You can try calling them im pretty sure it was mike or mick who did the install. Did a great job also wired up a Car PC for me on my BMW before. They specialize in Bentleys so your in safe hands.
aquanuke
When I bought my car I got two master keys and the valet key. The other key looks like a credit card ive only seen pictures of it on the net. It might be that you only get either a valet key or a credit card key depending what country your in. But yep you should get 1 valet type key.

Is it not shown in your car manual?
aquanuke
This is the credit card key. Difference being valet key has transponder inside the key whilst the credit card key has the transponder inside the credit card case and not the key.

I only got the 2 normal keys. I'll have to contact the 1st owner and see if she can find it.

It took me around 3hrs to fit the lux without the remote start, so a first shot of 4hrs would be about right, reducing over progressive installs.
I also don't have the plastic strip with the unique code for producing a replacement key. I'll have to contact Lexus and see if they can source this from records.
If i ever get the car back that is censored.gif
lizzy borden
I'm still waiting for the car back. Lexus have been totally crap tbh. First they sent the wrong parts, then they sent 2 left hand instead of L & R, now it's gonna be tuesday before they get the correct ones. They then need painting and i need the car back for wed! NOT HAPPY mad.gif
Chaz B
Thanks for the info Aquanuke. Got to love this forum.
Hope you get the car back from Lexus soon mate. Dissapointed to hear about the problems as Lexus are supposed to be NO1 for customer service.

Chaz

Luxlink finally finished. All done and working!
The problem was with the direct translation of the LHD/RHD wiring colours.
I obtained schematics of the roof ecu to cross reference the wiring and sorted it.
PM for more info, or contact jsx-94@blueyonder.co.uk

Nice one, all sounds pretty cool indeed..........I think a vid clip may be in order to show off your hard work whistling.gif msn-wink.gif
lizzy borden
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ExhXKr0LN0

Here it is. A bit grainy but i did it on my phone.

Basically you can set the roof closing and leave the car with the keys. When it's shut fully the engine shuts off.
Then you can remote open using the factory key.
Parthiban
That's really cool, can you close the roof using the key as well, or is the only way as you did in the vid?
lizzy borden
Open and close with the key tongue.gif
Chaz B
Hi Mate.
Looking good very nice. May have to get one ordered.
Top Job
