Hi,

Following on from my other thread about my mum potentially buying a 2004 RX300 SE. I was interested in knowing what the factory DVD Sat nav is like. Is it any good? The car comes with a old 2004 - 2005 Maps DVD but the screen is touch screen. Does a new updated 2008 DVD bring the Sat nav up to standard with Post codes, awareness of Toll Roads, Congestion zones etc? Can Speed camera info be added? Does it have a 3D view?

Thanks for any tips.

Postcode is 4 digit not full postcode

maps are 2D

No speed cams on it

I think in general terms a Tom Tom or such will give greater functionality but IMHO it's one more thing to plug in, charge, get nicked, dangle wires from. I like the inbuilt system and have had no complaints so far. I do a lot of traveling and the lexus system hasn't failed to get me there yet.

Hardware/Picture Brilliant

Software / Input a nightmare to figure out and no Full postcode search! In a perfect world I would run TomTom software on the Lexus installation - if only they would talk!

Mine runs on the same age system. Works pretty well, doesn't have all the new roads such as A1/A1M around Leeds, but can always get a newwer disc. Had a 400h on test and the graphics on that are a fair bit sharper and brighter, I think it is a completely different systemn though.
