Yesterday with engine off noticed a clunking ckicking under the arm rest glove box. It appears to stop when the engine was running and the gear is out of park.

It sounds like a relay.

I am sure I would have heard it before so I think it is new.

Anyone got any ideas?

Is it likely to be serious?

Please help me put my mind at rest.

Brakes appear to work fine.

I do have an intermittent brake light fault warning light, but I do not see any lights out at all.

It sounds like the interlock which stops you shifting out of Park unless the brake pedal is pressed -- but you said you were already out of Park. Try putting it in Park with the engine running, and pressing the brake pedal a few times, to see if it's the same noise.

Clunk Click, that's not very nice open the glovebox and let poor Jimmy Saville out! whistling.gif Sorry completely useless and unhelpful information I know but couldn't resist with that title.( If you're old enough to remember Jimmy Saville and the seatbelt ads from the 70's lol!)
