I'm due to go away for a week or so on Saturday morning using the car to get there. Late last night a warning light came on stating oil maintainance required. The manual says oil and filter change. Now getting the car in for a service in the next two days is not going to happen so I wondered if this was an automated light timed to coincide with the last service or an indication that attention is urgently required? The service is due sometime in October and the oil levels are fine. Car has done approx 3,000 miles since the last service. Even if the last service was an interim one the oil and filter should have been changed?

Lexus servicing on the ISDiesel is NOT condition based - so the manually entered timer has hit the reminder date that was previously set.

If the car hasn't done more than 10k and it's less than 12 months as you say since the stamped service, just go to the relevant Menu and reset the dates to remind you. It doesn't matter a jot. If the dealers had serviced it then yes - every 10k service includes an oil and filter change.

BTW - I'm in Leicester too...

I figured you were by the ref to Sytners. I spoke to my independant who has agreed to do an oil and filter change for me tomorrow. He's getting the service work on the car anyway and will use genuine parts to maintain the warranty. He also confirms it's nothing to worry about and as long as the levels are ok would be ok to run until the service is due. I just want piece of mind and don't want to give Lexus Leicester any excuse to claim any mechanical failure was due to my not complying with a warning.

Cheers buddy - BTW - any chance you could let me know who your independant is? You won't believe this, but our Nissan Note 1.4 is more expensive to service than the IS!
