Full Version: Transit Connect Fuel Economy

I needed to move some stuff yesterday so hired a Transit connect from Sixt.................when I picked it up the tank was full (the fuel indicator was pointing over the "F" line)

Did 32 miles, then filled it up with just under 2 gallons before returning it this morning! Which means it only did 16 mpg!

Is that correct? Or did it just have an inaccurate fuel gauge and they didn't give it to me with a full tank?

Was that a diesel version? ohmy.gif My brother has one and is always saying how good it is on fuel for the miles he does unsure.gif

Sounds to me like either the fuel gauge was stuck, or it should have been even higher over the "F" if it was full. Was the needle even higher when you filled it up, compared to when you picked it up ?

You can only really use that as an effective method when you fill the tank up right to the brim yourself - sometime the needle stays on 'F' a little bit long then seems to shoot down quickly. Although it was reading full, it probably wasn't

Yep it was a diesel.......... shutup.gif

You're prob right that the needle stuck up there, when I filled it up it went back to the same position, but it might stay there a bit longer before starting to drop.

If not 16mpg is pretty horrendous for a diesel van..........that's IS220d type economy tongue.gif

i get 400 miles to a full tank in my transit,
fuel up to the brim up here at leeds ,hammer it down to london and then hammer it back average speed 80 (tomtom) will get there and back on a full tank
400 miles to a full tank to me seems a bit poor to me smile.gif
