After a week of trying to decide between a RX400H and a Touareg 3.0V6 TDI, I decided to order a RX400.....Cadoxton Slate with Grey leather 400 SE with multimedia. Hope I made the right choice.....Touareg engine was really fun to drive, huge amounts of torque that I dont seem to remember from my Rx400 test drive....

Anyway, loking forward to joining all you Lexus owners!

It all depends on what you want to use the SUV for?

Personally, the looks of the Touareg aren't for me - nice car and all that - but I'm loathed to pay circa £35k for a 'peoples car' if you know what I mean smile.gif

Unless you must have 'new' - did you consdier a year old X5? XC90? I know I would have if I had the money wink.gif

Welcome to the LoC smile.gif

Hi .

I had a touareg v6 3.0Tdi on loan when my Eos took on water , we had it for 5 weeks , and if i was not picking up the bill for future values i woud have had the VW anyday , but as they will cost £400+ a year to tax in the next year or two no one seams to want them now . Step in the 400h , which in my opinon will make a better investment in the long term (I hope)

My order is for a new company car, and I get all my fuel paid too which sounds great until you see what it does to your tax code.... with the Touareg at 35% based on emissions, and the Rx400H at a fantastic 23%, thats actually paying 3200 pounds a year less in personal tax with the lexus. Makes it a bit of a no brainer I guess....

Touareg was nice, but not that nice!!!!

If its anyhelp I got my new RX400H 2 weeks ago, I've already done 2000 miles and I am still smiling. Same colour as yours but SR spec with MM, its a great car to drive, cruises well on the motorway with the power if you need it, I'm currently getting 30.5mpg which is not bad and about 85% of the miles I have done so far are motorway miles.

Cant really find anything negative to say about it yet, the ML sound system is good but I think the version that was fitted in my previous IS220D just had the edge on sound quality.

Its a great looking car in Cadoxton Slate, plenty of room and very quiet. All in all I'm sure you will be happy.

Welcome to LOC, only sat in one before at the local Lexus Dealers, never driven one but seemed like a nice car to me.
Only shame is it is front wheel drive only ? Bit of muddy grass would make me wish I'd bought something else.

The low tax isn't just the domain of the 400h anymore - the spanking new 'Efficieny Dynamic' X5s come close IIRC.

I fully accept however that you would need to spend a LOT of money on the BMW to get comparable spec with the 400h.
