tommy, quick question mate. On The HID, im assuming that because ours are the twist n lock bulbs the rubber gromit thing thats on the wire is of no use? and did you take out your right light or did you manage? dont suppose you got a pic of where you put the ballasts have you?

cheers
tommy20165
Give me 5 mins mate, i'll nip out and take a picture for you,, by the way, iv'e just called the insurance company about the HID's, no extra charge mate biggrin.gif

Mine was the same Rob, they just said "so basicaly you have just uprated the bulbs to a better system which is fine)" and no extra cost smile.gif
Rob's Lexx
ahh fair doo's. just wondered that's all as i know some companies won't allow it. depends who ur speaking to at the time i guess....

i had some random questions regarding mine but sorted it in the end.
tommy20165
Youv'e got me paranoid now Rob, do you think i should have asked for that in writing ???
muddyell
Dont suppose you have a link for where you bought the HID kits from do you?

Looks really good by the way
tommy20165
Here you go mate, wink.gif
FuntimePhil
they are pretty good, i wanted a photo to compare the two so i changed one back so i could see the difference in the dark! BIG DIFFERENCE!!

tommy20165
Looking good matey wink.gif
Steviewevie
Yeah, HIDs are great ! biggrin.gif

About asking for it in writing, it's up to you. Personally I wouldn't bother but I'd probably make a note of when I spoke to the insurance company should it ever be queried.
tommy20165
Good idea mate, i managed to get the guys name ( Mark ) so if anything goes wrong, at least i can give them time, date, name wink.gif

6000K are the most popular choice. they are still really bright and have a hint of blue in there, not enough to be illegal and fail mot's
ant1
with these new brighter bulbs surley thats got to be almost like driving with your lights on full beam all the time?

They are very bright compared to the oem bulbs mate but if you decide to go for a set? pop into your local MOT station and ask if they can check the beam height for you and set them up the best they can.

When i fitted mine, i took mY LEX in due to them being quite low and the chap at the garage set them up and didnt cost me anything biggrin.gif
muddyell
So i am guessing 6000k kis what is fitted facory spec if you have HIDs

Surely the higher burning ones would give better visibility as they are brighter? unsure.gif

I think that factory ones are usually around 4500K, which are a bit whiter and brighter than 6000K

QUOTE

6000K refers to the colour temperature, not to the brightness. So for example, 8000K are more blue than 6000K, and 10000K will be sort of purple. Because of the difference in colour, those ones with a "higher" colour temperature are actually *less* bright.

Go for 4500K if you want super-bright HIDs. They will be a little bit brighter than 6000K. A lot of people go for 6000K though because they're still bright, and have a very slight blue tinge which looks kinda cool biggrin.gif
