Valet Pro's Bilbery Wheel Cleaner seems to be highly rated over on Detailing World for wheel cleaning. I use it myself although haven't tried it on really dirty wheels.

Old detailing clay can get off specks of brake dust thats got onto the wheels, might be an idea to try the Blu-Tak that everyones been talking about using instead of detailing clay, still using some type of lubrication mind. msn-wink.gif

Being careful not to get wax on the brake disc. Results could be.... unnerving!!! lol

I use Meguiar's Wheel Brightener. Works brilliantly. Smells lovely too. I got some from here.

I read somewhere that B&Q brick cleaner is pretty much the same chemically as Wonderwheels, it's just stronger! Had a quick nosey and they both are hydrochloric acid!

So in theory put that on quick, give it 30 seconds and then blow off with a washerjet!

Dunno how true that is but sounds feasible!

Before I fitted the ceramic type pads on the front of the 250 the rims used to get absolutely black with brake dust and it was really difficult to remove. Ended up using a proprietory wheel cleaner that did the job, but it must have been mostly phosphoric acid if the holes in my jeans are anything to go by.

Haven't tried the Bilberry, but it's supposedly acid free. I've used old clay and it does the job but doesn't last very long before you risk scratching the laquer.

Since putting on the new pads I get little dust on the front rims, similar to the back really and that's hardly any. Another reason for the lack of dust between washes is the application of this stuff after cleaning the rims.

I use Bilberry's all the time and it's fantastic, plus as you dilute it down a 1lt bottle can make 4lt and I make up two mix's, Heavy Soil - dilute 1:1 (or you can use neat) into a trigger spray bottle, spray on wheel allow to dwell for 5 to 10 minutes agitate then jet wash off.
Lightly Soiled - dilute 1:5 into a trigger spray bottle, spray on then simply jet wash off for clean wheels.
So 1:1 using half a liter makes a 1lt bottle, and using the remaining half a liter diluted at 1:5 makes 3lt and at £8.95 you wont find anything near that in Halfrauds, plus it's safe on all types of wheel, completely acid free, also effective on baked on brake dust (when used neat) and It smells nice too!!
