Hi

Need some advice. I may be able to obtain the TTE supercharger kit will all the bits and pieces(, piping, cradle, airbox, pulley etc) everything except the compressor itself. I was told it's just an eaton m62 and locating a used one on ebay isn't too hard. That's true (i've found alot) but the snout assembly doesn't look anything like the TTE version (much longer) and the pulley size looks wrong too. So is it possible to change the snout and pulley on a used one so it matches the TTE spec? and does anybody know where to get the parts to do this?

Google isn't doing a very good job in assisting at the moment

Thanks for the help
sparkystav
Yes it is possible. but the best people to contact are TTE themselves.

very easy to do - remove the pulley and just unbolt the nose cone, then put the new one on. but far easier is to get a correct one in the first place, as the supercharger is from an early slk 200

Yes but the m62 from GM or Ford are more cheaper, 100 USD or less, and the size (diameter) of pulley from MB nor is the right one. If you choose the MB I think it's more reasonable and cheap change the pulley on water pump to preserve the ratio for boost.

Here there are snout for a M62 but is expensive and don't seems sufficiently short http://www.invasionautoproducts.com/superc...-m62snouts.html

dont know where u have your info from but it is incorrect. the MB supercharger does have the correct size pulley - i can only guess you are looking at the newer MB units which are fixed drive with a small pulley and not the older units that use a clutch and a larger pulley.

The older units are the correct versions to buy.

ok so you get a supercharger for a gm etc then have to spend x amount of money tryng to source a nose drive, and then send it over from the US (which will not be cheap)- it doesnt make sense. i would source a nose drive first or at least get a cost of the drive unit of the correct extension.

i have seen many superchargers of the correct type on ebay that were not too expensive - what prices have you seen?

I think I'm not wrong, the oem MB Eaton M62 diameter pulley is 100 mm. and the TTE is 110 mm.

i would double check your information as i know the 110mm pulley on the supercharger is a standard item and is not replaced when the supercharger is used in the TTE/Bermani kit.

10 seconds on ebay produced this : 320313218684 its ended but is an example of what is available

First sorry about my poor english and my ignorance about this issue, I hope you can understand me.

I think the TTE and MB Eaton M62 aren't the same pulley, one is direct and the other have a magnetic clutch, but if the difference of diameter is only 10% seems not problem (the valve or the bypass preserve the correct boost around 0.3 bar), and the clutch only work if it's plugged and receiving signal so no problem.

In Ebay Europe there are few M62 and a lot of M45 and in Ebay USA there are a lot of M62 but with large nose and there are more M90 still much more cheaper (100 USD or less).
As I don't have the bracket (in fact I don't have anything yet sleepy.gif ) to support the s/c I'm thinking to buy a M90 and build a bracket for it wacko.gif

I still thinking it's possible to build yourself a IS200 compressor kit with a very reasonable cost, I'll see ...
Rob
the TTE still has the magnetic clutch from MB fitted but the wires are cut and the clutch is locked with 3 small bolts so it becomes a direct drive.

good luck with your search
sparkystav
Rob is right, the TTE one does still have the clutch inside it, its just mechanically bolted permantaly one.

Thanks Carles, this info is proving really helpful in my search. Sorry i didn't get back to you sooner. So far i've found a couple of chargers that look just like ours on ebay but they haven't specified if it's an m62 or m45. so i was wondering is there any danger in using an m45 rather than an m62 (boost/heat/bhp?)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-Su...sQ5fAccessories

Also they're insisting on a core return and i shouldn't bid unless i have a core :-(.

Another hiccup is the tte airbox. Can't seem to find a used one of those anywhere, but that wasn't a surprise, i don't expect people to be throwing that out with the garbage anyway.

I'll keep you guys informed.

Rob
nope u dont have to return a core to them..... if u do not have a core u need to pay and additional $150
Carles
There is a m90 for 50 USD in ebay (plus 100 USD for postage) I'm tempted but surely is better to wait a good price for a short nose m62 from Mercedes and avoid adaptation and boost pressure problems.

Update.

So far things are progessing slowly but surely. I spoke with TTE and i've made my 1st shipment with the following

AM 27928 tube compressor to I /C
AM 27927 tube, I/C to inlet manifold
AM 27843 tube, bypass, 38mm
AM 27959 housing, compressor outlet
AM 27958 cable, compressor bypass spare
I know alot of the first order i probably could have made myself but i really like the TTE logo on the 38mm bypass piping :-)

In my next order i was thinking about getting the ecu extension, valve bypass assembly, cradle support for the compressor and AM 27930 housing, bypass to compressor

Anyways, I'd like to try to fab the compressor support cradle and the throttle body adaptor. I spoke with a local shop and they said it would go alot faster/smoother if i could get the mesurments rather than taking estimates and trial and error fitting on the engine and the supercharger hasn't shipped just yet (ebay usa off a slk230 with clutch) so i can't get it from there. Does anybody have/know the exact dimensions of those parts?
Also, the ecu extension thing, is there a good subsitute for it that isn't too complicated to install or should i just stick with the tte one?
Another thing is the pulley. I got an extra water pump pulley off an old 1G-FE and was hoping to use that. Is it the same size as the TTE pulley? I don't want to mess the size up and send a rod thru the side of the car...

all info/suggestions are welcomed. thanks

You mean the TTE "black box" that piggy-backs on the ECU ? Stav has done a great posting on some of the options here
