I just bought a is200 a couple of weeks ago, nd its an absolute savage car!! The thing is tho last week the engine mgt light came on. Got it reset but a couble days later it woz on again. So i brought it 2 da local toyota garage. Da reader came bk wit da result of a gear cam sensor problem, didnt get da error code. I know i should have! Anyway, I got a quote 4 €1500 2 fix it. They also told me that i might aswell replace da timing belt at €500 even tho it had been replaced a few thousand miles ago! I really dont think either of da above is da problem 2 b honest. Does any1 have ny suggestions?

Plus, da exhaust seems 2 b smokin a fair bit 2, it has been fully serviced nd fairly low miles 4 da year.

you need to have the actual fault code - any garage can do that so no need to go to toyota, once you have that come back and people can help a bit more.

if it is the cam sensor code it could be that the sensor has broken. now i may be wrong but i remembe something similar happened to another member a while ago and the cambelt was 1 tooth out.

does the code come on after high rpm???

That was me. As you've had your timing belt replaced recently, I'd agree with Rob, your timing belt is one tooth out rather than a fault cam sensor, although it is possible.

Smoke in exhaust might be water in the exhaust system (water burning off), you'll notice more this time of the year.
