Hi, have a 2001 LS430. Does anyone know what is involved with changing the Post Cat Sensors? I spoke to my local mechanic and he seems to think the termination blocks are inside the car, under the centre console or seats. This seems a mad place to put them - access from under the car would seem more likely. Any advice would be appreciated.

They are indeed under the carpet, it says in the manual that you can get at them by removing the heater vents that are on the side of the transmission tunnel, they are just below these vents under the carpet and soundproofing.... The vents just pull off, rear first.

Evening all. Sorry to crash the thread, but my LS has done 67,000 miles now. I've always ran it on BP ultimate but would it be worth changing all the oxygen sensors before I get the engine light come on? If I bought them in from the States and had Lexus fit them, would it void my warrenty? Or would it be best to wait for the light to come on and then get Lexus to replace them?

Sorry for my daft questions, I've just spent the last four hours walking round Bluewater and I'm feeling ever so slightly sick.

Have had a quick look. The vents for the rear seem under the front seats. Are these the vents you refer to? There don't appear to be any rear vents on the transmission tunnel. There are vents in the front on the transmission tunnel.
Your further advice would be much appreciated.

i think meant the front vents on the transmission tunnel removing the rear part of the (front) vent first. there are wires down there if you feel about for them

Only shows LHD for some reason as most show both but I expect it's the same....

"Don't fix it if it ain't broke" holds very true, your sensors could last forever or give up tomorrow, it is not a foregone conclusion that just because they go on some cars they will go on all cars, in fact they are a common misdiagnosed item. The poor little things get blamed for lots of other problems, especially by garages who don't know the engine well. So keep your money for now, if you do need them you can get them sent over the pond within 2 days anyway......

Thanks very much for your advice. I am a bit or a worrier when it comes to these things. At the moment it certainly aint broke. I scared the living whatsits out of an M3 driver on the M25 thisevening so there is plenty of grunt there with no warning lights.

I think I had better get some shares in Michelin because the way my right foot is at the moment, they ain't gonna last long.
