Hi Guys,
I bought an LS400 UCF20 facelift model (UCF21), with the vvti engine and the 5 speed automatic. The car came with a built in navigation system. I was originally planning on parting the car out, but it's such a nice ride that I am thinking of keeping it. I unlocked the navigation system with the 2 button trick (lights on/off/on/off). Found out the navigation data is mega outdated (1998) and also for the UK only, while I live in the Netherlands. My main question is, can I upgrade the navigation unit to a DVD model from a later lexus? Is that compatible? It doesn't really pay off to buy a CD I think, as capacity of a CD is pretty limited. Are there updated CD's available anyways? I prefer to go to a new reader if possible, anyone know this? The currect CD version (the CD itself) is Ver. 1.1 data 97-II, part number 86271-30392 & 86271-15V042

Hi Arnout

It would be almost impossible to upgrade to a DVD system, they are completey different to the CD based units. It would also cost a huge amount. Probably better to buy an LS430 with it already fitted.

We upgraded our CD a few months ago, not cheap but it has made a great difference to the maps (obviously) and to the quality of the speech commands. they are now faster and more accurate. I think that it was worth the cost but then we intend to keep the car for a few more years yet.
