 As I said in an earlier post my heat & vent controls suddenly ceased to function last week, the outside temp indication went to "-E" and the "Snow/PWR" buttons also ceased to function - all at once.
I had it looked at today and the answer is that the control box for the heat/vent is not working. A small matter of £781.00 to fit a new one.

The "Snow/PWR" buttons problem are in no way connected with this and so must be due to a second fault! They are tied in with the ABS system apparently.

I have had this car for about 17 months and in that time it has had 5 new wheels and a radio/cd player changed ?under warranty? and the tracking has had to be adjusted twice because the tyres were wearing oddly. As someone who has driven Toyotas for many trouble free years what on earth have I let myself in for!

Apart from all that any one know where I can get reasonably priced spares or perhaps one from a breaker?

Unfortunately the corroding alloys and issue with the stereo are both known issues, but Lexus are usually pretty hot on replacing these items under warranty :)

Sorry to hear about your control box problem tho. In all the time I've been frequenting the LOC, this is the first time I have heard of this problem. I know it's probably of little consolation, especially when you're faced with a £780+ bill, but I guess it's just the nature of cars (and life!) that something like this could happen to anyone. If it's any comfort, Lexus is still tops in the JD Power stakes, so arguably the chances of faults developing on other manufacturers cars is greater.

If you opt for a dealer repair (which obviously comes with it's own guarantee) then definately worth checking out Gold membership as Supra' suggests. Also might be worth checking to see if there's any other Lexus dealers within a reasonable distance, who might do it cheaper or offer a greater Gold discount.
