well order the kit chris bought. had a go at polishing the prolex katayama strut brace. only got to a half as the drill battery died on me so will do tommarow.
it took out the deep scratches but you could notice them a little bit if you look closely. let me know what you guys think?

How you finding it mate? i couldnt believe how easy it was to do when i started :) If you have a 240v power drill it'll work even better than the cordless as it has a bit more power? Look forward to the pics mate :D

Good on you for having a go at it too :)
Asi
very easy to do but just takes time. what colour of of those things you use first and then which one do you use for a finihsing polish. i would buy a 240v drill some time later on
Parthiban
That is nice mate, I'm going to order one of these kits to see what I can end up doing with it :)

Aztec, are there any similar kits you can get for a dremel (well I have a B&D Wizard but technically the same thing) in order to polish small things?

Looks great matey, B)

i just brought a cheep drill from B&Q matey think it cost me £7.49 so if i blew it up running it for long times i could just bin it and buy another? but its still going strong so worth it

@Parthiban, Yes mate there are a few kits for the dremel, on the smaller bits you can use things like autosol depending on what the surface is like but works well :)
Asi
what make is it mate?

You can use either mate, the 1" set isnt much different just covers more area faster, i have 1/2", 1" 2" wheels now and just ordered a 4" polishing wheel :)
Dave1986
Thanks mate, im gonna order me one of them tonight or tomorow and make shiney stuff when it comes :)

hmm now this thread has got me interested...my spare wheel is corroded really badly so basically with one of these kits would it be possible to polish it? how big a job/difficult would it be?

aztec have u tried this kit mate?...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Imops-11pc-Alloy-Whe...A1%7C240%3A1318
Asi
that kit would do the same thing mate but it will cover less area than the one me and aztec have.

I'd use that kit for the more detailed items mate, the kit that Asi and myself use has the wheel mops, which are probably more suited to the job your thinking of doing? :)

Is it a difficult job tho mate polishing up the wheels? Whats the chance in me damaging the wheel itself?

The wheels are quite easy to do mate, but you will need to respray them after being polished, Because it will remove paint around where your polishing :whistling:
Dave1986
The dish on my wheels were like mirrors when i got them, now there kinda...buggered :crybaby:

Wonder if using this kit will make them a bit better or ruin them even more?

Hmmm, could you use that kit to potentially polish the whole wheel? That sounds interesting but I'd imagine it would take a lot of sanding to get the painted surfaces down to bare metal
Dave1986
iv only had time to try out the polishing kit on my strut brace so far, used the blue then the pink bars, heres a few pics :)

Asi
looking good dave. after using the pink bar use autosol or meg metal polish they work quite good aswell.
