Full Version: My Fog Lights Stopped Working

Hi,

My fog lights suddenly stopped working....both of them. I've checked the bulbs, all the fuses....but nothing. Everything seems to be ok. But still no go.

Any ideas why they would not work anymore?
tomo1981
I bet the housing on the rear is all corroded, take tham out and have a look, Its a common problem and is caused by salt water splashing through the brake disc vents on the plastic splash guard.
norlec
The only other thing it can be is the switch I would suggest checking the voltage to the switch and if that is OK your question is answered.
best of luck with it

Have you checked the fuse in the passenger footwell fuse box?
Also are the tail lights working?
Could also be the relay.

Cheers mate. I've had a quick look but I couldn't find the relay for the fog lights. I found where the fuse for it but no relay. It might be connected with a different relay? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Thanks mate. I meant in the car. I've looked around the fuse boxes on both sides, but I couldn't find a relay for the fog lights. Just a bunch of wires and plugs and the fuse box. I will check the switch on Saturday as well.

Thank you for your help so far.

Relays are on the back of the fuse box, you need to unplug all the wires and take the fuse box out to get at them!

Is there any other way to check if the relay is broken? Also, do you know the part number fo the front fog lights relay, so I can buy one before I open everything in there? Cheers.

Part number for the fog lamp relay is either 90987-02012 or 90987-02020, your Lexus/Toyota dealer should be able to help you figure out which is right for your car.

See parts diagram below for the exact location of the relay, it's at the back of the passenger side fuse box, labelled as (7) in the picture :

You can check it, but you'll have to get to it first. See the procedures here, and specifically step 8 for checking the relay.

As a matter of interest - when did folks have fog bad enough that fog lamps were required?

I can't remember last time I needed mine.
Steviewevie
Personally I find that the fog lamps are totally useless in fog anyway. I genuinely don't understand the point of them.
sparkystav
I hate the people that drive round in the day with them.

Getting rid of mine when i get the car back. Got a lovely set of meshed ones to use as cold air feeds thanks to our resident homemade equipment guru.
