Love my lexus. However, abouve 75mph there is excessive wind noise (quieter than average cars) coming from the sun roof, which makes a bigger racket than my avensis ever did.

Should this be looked at, or is this common?

Sounds like it may not be closing properly. Is it fitting flush looking at it from the outside?

I've never noticed any wind noise coming from the roof.

Can't say I've ever noticed any wind noise from the sunroof???

I noticed it when I first got my car and was assured by the dealership that it's normal. I've got used to it now and don't think about it or notice it now

Yes, we get it too - just close the cover - that cuts down a lot.

But I think it's more noticable on the Lex because it's such a very quiet car

Had the same problem for a while with mine - sorted by cleaning off all the gunk on the rubber surround seal and inside edge of the opening (need to use both the tilt and the full open positions for this) and then wiping with Nylon/rubber lubricant on a lint free cloth.

Hope it works for you too.

I too went from Avensis to IS200 and find the Lex VERY LOUD on the motorway.

The engine isn't loud (unless revved hard) and the noise seems to be a combination of low profile tyre roar and wind noise (the latter gets much worse at about 80).

Now the Avensis is a particularly quiet vehicle but I'm always surprised by people on the site saying the IS is quiet.

Any thoughts?

I don't mind the engine noise (that's such a lovely purr), and the tyre noise (as I know I have a lot of rubber on the road), but it is noticable more than the avensis. I'll have a go at cleaning the surrounds on the sun roof and see what happens.

It's a lot less noticable with the visor shut, but I feel closed in!

Cheers for the advice chaps.

Same as Others, the roof doesn't make any noticable noise but the tyres are noisy cos of the profile,

:)

i've never thought the IS was noisy, (even when compared to my dads S-class :P ) and especially not from the sunroof

have they changed something on the newer cars possibly

On my previous cars ( Rovers and Nissans) with sun roofs I bought and fitted an acrylic smoke tinted wind deflector on the roof. I think that I will get one for the Lexus 200.
They are made in Germany. They certainly help in eliminating wind noise.
They are obtainable from Clim Air Uk,Dept AEX, 1 Station Parade, Station Road, Sidcup, Kent DA15 7DB
