Hi Guys
Sorry for the basic question but it does not say in my owners manual.

I have just recently had an auto gearbox oil change and just went to check the level and with the engine cold I removed the dip stick and the levels are just above the HOT mark.

I supplied the oil for the garage because I wanted the proper oil TYPE T IV as we all know is the only correct one I gave them the container which had 5 litres and they used half of it which makes sense as it takes 2.4 litres for a complete change.

Could a member give me the proper procedure for checking the levels,on the dip stick it has Hot and at the very bottom a C which I assume means cold,I can't understand why the handbook gives the engine oil levels but not the auto gearbox checking procedure.

[*]Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean
[*]Push it back fully into the pipe.
[*]Pull it out and check that the fluid is in the HOT range.

If the level is not within range, add new fluid.[/quote]
