Greetings everyone,

Recently bought GS430 on an 04 plate from reputable dealer, with new MOT, and no problems so far. 69K miles and full Lexus History.
Drove about 4 miles today to nearest filling station for fuel and then checked tyre pressures, which were all 32PSI.
I could feel heat from the o/s/f wheel and noticed that the brake disc was very warm to touch but not scalding hot.
The n/s/f disc was also warm but not as much as the other. There was no heavy braking on the way to the filling station.
Sounds to me like a bit of brake binding.
I am a new convert to Lexus after being fed up with Merc body work. Any thoughts or experience of this one ?

This is the LS forum but brakes are brakes.
Firstly is it due a service ( assuming you go to a dealer) then have them take a look ( they will anyway as part of the service)
Secondly looking through the service history have the pads and/or discs been replaced recently as they may be still "bedding in"
If you are a DIYer check the pistons are retracting, the guide pins are free and any pad to calliper surface is clean and well greased ( I am going on LS brakes here so please forgive me if you have 4 pot callipers as the principle is somewhat different).
Mods perhaps you could move this topic to the GS forum as the member may get more responses

The GS Mark I has the same brakes as the IS200/300, and they are very prone to problems with calipers sticking. See [url="http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=60196"]this thread[/url] for a current discussion on the subject.

Brakes will get warm almost immediately under normal driving condition when in use obviously. Unless there are other additional symptoms like pulling to one side when braking or the car not rolling freely when in neutral with the brakes off then I would guess that there is no problem at all. I am assuming you only noticed the heat because you were close to the wheel to check the tyre pressure???
