People, after a year long love afair with my car I have finally grown bored of her cheeky ways  no longer is she quick enough or agressive enough on the road so I have made the radical decisions to SELL!! :o

Well the supercharger anyway :P

And in it's place I am having a custom made Turbo set up with cast manifold and a low compression engine. Car is going in on 21st July for 10 Weeks

Can't wait - it won't quite be the MONSTER but it should still get to 290 BHP using the same engine!!

Company in Oxfordshire that specialise in providing Turbo's to the Rally industry in fact they build and provide bespoke turbo applications to Subaru. They really know their stuff and they had my car for development and R&D about 4 weeks ago, they also have one of the few 1000+BHP rolling roads in the country, they specialise in race and rally cars so I had to beg and plead and pull a few strings for them to do my car

I was always goinng to be unfortunately my cousin is getting married in the USA so i'll be over there

I also forgot to say that if the install goes well and proves to be cost effective then they will consider offering a kit for the IS200 - that should help us catch those IS300 boys

Si
Mr-Lex

Anyway, sounds awesome. I would love a charger but just don't have the nuts to do it, or the cash - marriages are soooo expensive these days! :P
simonskippy
I'd agree mate - I got married last year and foolishly said to the in laws that we would pay for the wedding ourselves - Don't do it if someone wants to pay let them - that s the best advice I can give

Didn't know that you knew them down there mate, yep I had to keep it under wraps for a while until a few things were sorted and some R&D was carried out but it is definitely happening now.

How often are you at Oxford Car Audio? I'll meet you down there next time your in the area

Si

P.S. As for cost it's a wait and see job, because this hasn't been done in the UK it is going to be a learning process.
Fargo
Me thinks Oxford Audio blew your cover my friend,, i was in there about 3 weeks ago getting priced up for an ICE install, i mentioned that i had seen your install at Gaydon, and we just spoke about your car.blah blah blah "oh hes getting twin turbos fitted" blah blah.

but fear not Mr Skippy your secret was safe with me and i have killed only 2 people so far for speaking about your covert opps

But no im not local, im down near Heathrow way, but i have my car booked in at O.A on the 20th for the install and will be up again before that this saturday to change my mind and go through a new install with them, namely installaing the Dension MP3 unit, am i mistaken insaying you have one.
simonskippy
Yes mate I have the new in dash Dension the one that doesn't have the satelitte unit, and we are going for a single turbo now twins are not an option unifrtunately - i'll see if I can nip out of work on the 20th and come and say hi

Glad to hear the boys at Oxford Car Audio are treating you well - they really are a first rate bunch of peeps

Si
Monster-Mat

Wouldn't take much to catch my "lardy" e-Shifting '300 ;) It's only got a 1 second advantage over a bog standard '200 in the 60mph dash, and I'm guessing any tuning work on the 2litre is gonna wipe that difference out pretty quick :P

Besides, by the time I've worked out how to actually achieve the quickest 0-60 time (errr... is that ECT PWR + M mode + floor it & hope I time the e-Shift changes right?), most manual drivers will have long gone!
ricky_is200
One of the reasons the standard IS200 appears so slow to 60 is it needs a second gear change, into third to hit 60.

A bit of a shocker there, but not surprised that it need 3rd speed to hit 60. It seems to be the way for the VTEC, and VVTi bridgade.

I was reading an article in the CAR mag about a test they did on a Golf, Honda Civic, and a couple of other super hatches. The Honda was the only one that needed 3rd speed to hit 60.

When I test drove the IS 200 a few years ago, I didn,t really get the chance to floor it till we got to the Motorway, so I couldn,t figure that out.

it'll be no problem beating the IS300.. been there and done that....

I've asked about the manifold.. AVO has a jig (sp?) for the turbo, but they would rather sell it as a whole kit.. if you are really interested i can pester them (my natural talent) to sell it as a one off.. they did mention they can, but it wouldn't be cheap...
maybe roughly around 400 pounds and above.
mik
... and because of the clunking second gear change
