I considered the S class before getting the 450h, but was put off by the reliability reports, so didn't test drive one. I can say I'm glad I didn't get one.

The lag between pressing the accelarator hard and anything happening is huge. Like a turbo lag or the computer thinking about which gear would be most appropriate.

Then there's the constant rumble from the diesel engine.

On the up side, the seats are comfortable, not a single squeek from the trim and a more solid feel to the car. The suspension soaks up the bumps very well, but maybe a little too soft.

Anyway there is no way I'd swap the 450h for one.

ive driven a s320cdi aswell
57plate. i agree with what u say. on a luxury car u dont want the diesel noise. theres nothing luxury about that. we have an 04 430 and it is far better in my opinion. i agree with the lag aswell

Very wise move there I have had 3 Mercedes and to put it mildley they are rust buckets, broken springs auto gearbox faults and electrical faults a plenty.

Just go on to this site and see the problems for a prestige car it is quite scary. http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/

We all know Lexus aren't the best cars on fuel but there is no contest between a Lexus and all the other stuff (BMW, Mercedes, audi, etc) I expect I am bios though because I love my Lexus. :winky:
