Hi,
Before I start my caliper re-build and bleed system, I need some advice.
I've just replaced a long brake pipe at the rear of the car and know that lots of air is in the system.
Will normal bleeding get rid of it all. Its the 1st time I've bled brakes myself and have read not to let the reservoir go empty - well mine must of emptied 5 times before i parked the car up for its pending jobs as the pipe popped a hole whilst driving and i filled it up 4 times in 1 hour.
So i know the system is full of air.
Will i get rid of it all in the one bleeding session (not the blood sucking fetish type as that is not my thing)
Will the conventional pedal method be suitable for the job, or should i get a kit, or just take it to a garage? (cost being an issue as Control arms, Ins, Tax & MOT all waiting)
Should i soldier on with the cheapo Eezibleed kit, bite the bullet and buy a spare filler cap & drill holes to make this so called 'eezikit' goddamn easy to use? It apparently only pushes the fluid one way and guarantees air cannot be sucked back in, unlike the pedal method i have been told.
For the price of a professional eezibleed kit (£100) i might as well get a mobile mechanic out, but i am trying to keep the bills down as all tickets are due and even though i have someone to fit the control arms fairly cheap, i do need the rear uppers too at some point soon and thought i might aswell spend big on the major jobs now, fix the easier ones myself and it should put me in good stead for the coming years, instead of being like my old bangers and always in the garage cos i was a tight arse then too and never got the work done when i should have and they always cost me at the wrong time.

Start with the cheapest,can't see why the old method shouldn't work.
Open a bleed screw, then get your mate to push the brake pedal to the floor and hold it down,
then nip the screw back up, BEFORE he releases the pedal.
Repeat TILL NO AIR comes out all round, I always start with the brake with the longest run of pipe, but that may be just me.

Or using a tube on the nippleand expel the fluid into a jar.

Don't re-use and DO NOT shake the new fluid up!
