My car is in Lexus Ipswich today to have a few warranty jobs done and a piece of fag-burned trim replaced.

Anyway they are sorting out the rattling noise made by the gear stick when in sixth gear.

They just rang me up to say this is a common problem and that there is a common modification they carry out for it. Something to do with a foam washer....? Anyway they have to order the parts it - irriatating....

So, does anyone else get this noise? and if yes, get down to your dealers and get it sorted!

Also they've now said that they will need to replace the handbrake as I complained about it rattling side to side.

I wonder if this is a common problem?

Right I got Lexus Ipswich to look into it. They called Southend, and it turns out there isn't actually a Technical Bulletin for this problem. However they confirmed that it is something that they see a bit and there remedy - ....now wait for it.... - is to shove some foam under the gaiter!!!

And by their admission, this only lasts a few weeks! Can't believe how cr@p this is!

I had this done at Bristos in Ipswich when they had the franchise and it has slowly got more and more loose and rattling.

Is this Lexus admitting they have faulty gear sticks?
