I know there are a lot of threads on this topic but none of them mention whether people really think the final outcome is worth while. I also wanted to know whether people think that the armrest gets in the way when changing gears which is why Lexus may have chosen to only include on the auto cars?
I am thinking of asking my dealer, Park Lane, to fit for me before I collect my car as I am not so keen on taking out the interior trim myself on a brand new car in fear of making a complete mess.
Any advice much appreciated.
Cheers

Well Steve, my opinion is that it is worth it as once its fitted you will wonder what on earth you did with your left arm before.

.
Personally i do not find that it gets in the way of changing gears, if anything i find it interfears with the lower half of the sta nav controls but all that means is i have to bend my wrist more (whilst still resting my arm..)
As for fitting it,, i too was a bit dubious about taking the center console out, but believe me its a doddle.

Only std on the auto I thought? I am buying a manual brand new, the dealer has just emailed me to say they can not do it.

I believe to fit the original armrest as fitted to the auto is a great deal of work because of the parts involved. The group buy was for an aftermarket armrest.

fargo is right, its quite worth it, xept for that unreasonably high price, at first, ull feel its quite "short" for an armrest, but using it for a couple of weeks....makes u wonder what da hell was ur arm doing before u had it. heheehhehe..believe me, my IS is almost 4years old, and i just installed my OEM armrest last march.

The aftermarket armrest is worth it. It does not get in the way or interfere with gears. I don't have a sat nav controls so can't answer that.

Hmm, maybe it was attached to your left hand .. holding your steering wheel ....
All i can say is you people must have long arms if you can rest your elbow between the seats while holding the steering wheel with both hands

I saw Germany in the orig. post!
If its available there, then does that mean we could buy the proper parts from Lexus (maybe have to be Germany - or does it?)
If so, how much would Lexus Germany sell them for? Could get them over and fit the real deal - though I am sure that the other one is very good too!!
