fifth gear is good though and the original top gear was class not sure bout the others

Couple of 3 litre 'S' Capris & RS 2 Escort.
Bought myself a 3 litre 'S' about 15 years ago and grew some sideburns. Classic..............

driver in series lived near us and used to take us out for a spin (literally) in the actual car used in series
i had to be good so parents would let me stay up and watch the programme

What was the Sweeney driver's on-screen name? Was it something like Frank? I don't ever remember him actually speaking.
Seem to remember them using a Ford Consul and later upgrading to a Granada.
Baddies always used Jags and Transit vans (which always crashed)

I guess the term, "Bank Robbers Jag" was probably invented due to the amount of Bank Robbers with Jags during the sweeneys run.
Talking of Cop shows [which we wern't] does anyone remember Hazel? I think it was a bloke called Nick Ball. Dodgy show but he drove a Java Green Stag which made the most delightful noise. One of my first memories of my favourite mode of transport.

Just thought I would share that moment.....
