well i'd just thought we all could share tips on cleanin your ride.


this is what i do
1.power wash it by hand with soap and water.
2. dry with a leather shammy which will never cratch or leave swearl marks on the clearcoat or paint
3. apply s100 wax by hand (the wax is made for harley davidson motorcycles but one of the best wax's ever)
4. remove wax with a microfiber cloth

as for the wheels
1. wash by hand with a towel
2. apply s100 wax (up same wax on wheels)
3. remove wax
as for the wax on the wheels, it really keeps the brake dust off the wheels and keep your wheels shiney and clean for a long time

next time you or friends go to turkey ,get a load of natural sponges dead cheap and large sized to ,cant beat them for washing car. (not in green party)

I used to think a good leather chammy was best but read on several sites that they were not recommended at all (cant remeber the reasons exactly) and you were better to use a synthetic chammy - which I therefore always use. Would welcome any other comments about this.

I just think that the synthetic shammy is easier to keep and I find it it easier to use - I don't smear the car as much.

As for my tips on washing my IS is just do it often! I cleaned it twice over the weekend and it's covered in c**p now

Get the butler to do it

Dry it with a couple ot terry nappies ( you know the baby ones ) works a lot better than chammy and easy to wash in the machine ( no fabric conditioner though ) .... recommended by most classic enthusiasts including me

Used to use AutoGlym, not any more

[u]Car -Black IS200[/u]
1. Hand wash it with Maguiars Gold Class Car Shampoo.
2. Dry it using AutoGlym Leather Chammy, (non-scratch n smear).
3. Then go over again with 3M MicroFiber Cloth.
4. Apply Maguiars Polish & Wax Process, (use the 3-step once a month).
5. Remove Polish using a 3M MicroFiber Cloth.
6. Final clean up with Maguiars Terry Towl.

7. In between washes use Maguiars Quick Detailer & Maguiars Quick Wax

1. Hand wash it with Maguiars Gold Class Car Shampoo.
2. Now wax up yet - On order ToughSeal Alloy Wax, (wheels are still new).

As with any towels, fabric conditioner apparently makes them less absorbant.

Do not use a chamois, it will pick up grit and leave scratches, wash as normal and use Maguires micro fibre drying cloth and jobs a good un.

The easy way to a beautiful clean car...

1) Bribe the other half to do it while she does hers (promise of a Saturday pub lunch usually works well).
2) Get her to drive to pub (as you're buying).
3) Order food & beer.
4) Order more beer.
5) Look apologetic on discovering wallet left at home!
