My brakes have just started to squeak.
How long is it safe to use them for?
I do mostly short trips in a start stop bad traffic situation about 20 miles a day
will they last another week till i can get some turbo groove discs and ebc pads on???

Should be ok Brett....,
If your changing your discs and pads anyway, surely it doesn't matter too much.
(unless it's squeaking from the back brakes, then I would recomend you looking at them immediately)

I will have to double check that it is the fronts that are making the squeaks
Thanks Duncan

when you do change them its worth putting copper grease
on the backing plates of the pads

Copper Grease= High melting point grease.
ie: it doesn't melt when the brakes get hot.

According to the instructions with the EBC pads, you don't install the backing plate (that come of the original L pads) with installation of the new EBC Pads, as this will cause the pads to stick out more and give pad drag.
as i thought that this was weird not to install them, I enquired about this with a few LOC members, and they have not installed them either.. So my mate at the garage told me the same thing and just put the copper grease on the back of the pads..
Anyone else care to share if you have installed these plates??

Didn't get any instructions with mine,
Installed them with the anti squeal shims, and a touch of Copper grease.
Mine don't drag !!!!!
Anyone else fitted them with the shims ?

your right it does say dont.............but im not talking lots of grease
just a thin layer with or without plates,I would never not put grease on
The last thing you would want is to change disc/pads drive off and
then the brakes start squealing only to have to take em all apart again.
just do it as a precaution
