Has anyone used MER car polish on their Lex? If so what do you guys think?
Scorpion
Mer........thats a swear word in this club

lots of peeps use Autoglym or Meguires both are rocking products

i find Mer is to abrasive for me and should only be used no more than

twice a year as it cuts into the laquer(not good)

Zymol....

Lurvely stuff although smells as if you you should be rubbing it all over yourself on a beach in some foreign land :)

zymol as well.

i'd describe it as smelling like it comes from the Body Shop!

Parthiban
i use zymol too, does a great job.

would like to know if meguires is better though
wildrnes
meguires!!!!

i havnt used zymol

cant afford to got too much meguires !!!!
Steve
tried alot of em.. Zymol was the best for me... little harder to work with but great for getting fit! :D

auto glym leaves tons of residue and does not last as long as zymol.

Meguiars all the way........ :whistling:
UKPulse
Have been using AutoGlym (turns out the Supaguard the dealer applied is rubbish), but think I'll get some Meguiars as it gets rave reviews here :)

Of course... my friend with a 'show car' in the US, says Meguiers is :tsktsk: and pretty much says the same as we do about Turtle Wax...

If you are obsessive try here: http://www.griotsgarage.com

Me... meguiers is the bee's knee's...
tony_hetherington
what products of meguiars do you guys use ?

I'm a autoglym super-resin polish / extra gloss protection man and have been for yrs, but am willing to try something different if it's as good as you guys say it is.

So, out of the shop on their website, what products is it I should go for - there's so many !! Oh, and a decent scratch removal product would be of use - I see they do a couple !

Thanks

Yeah, I used to be AutoGlym too...

Most guys use the 3-step Deep Crystal stuff, great for removing most scratches too....

I got the gold class stuff from a trip to the US.. It's a lot better than the autoglym.
Parthiban
can i get this meguiars stuff from halfords then?

also do you guys use their shampoos and polish, or just the polish?

if so, which shampoo do you use or does that not matter much?

i am currently using zymol shampoo and wax, but i want to be able to remove scratches but havent had much luck with this or with t-cut, what else can you use to remove scratches?
wildrnes
i use the lot mate and it works a treat
you can get it online on their website

Parthiban
there's like a million different things there, you use them all?
Steve
mequiars did not work for me :crybaby:
ricky_is200
I bought some gold class gold class after Zee and Andy recommended it and its great stuff and easy to apply. I got it from a shop in St Albans if your near there Parthiban. I couldn't be bothered with the 3 stage one, too much like hard work.

I've just been using normal shampoo and alloy wheel cleaner but I might give the mequiars stuff ago.
wildrnes
try this steve

I have the 3 stage process, Gold Class wax, alloy cleaner, scratch thingy, leather cleaner, tyre gel, shampoo and a few other bots and bobs - all brought over from when in was in america last year, so am unsure if it is all available here (i'm sure it is though).

Got the pack of Mig's through today, so will hopfully try it at the weekend.

Looked at the price of Zymol ...and thought :crying:

Hi there guys!

My is2 is black and this saturday gone I washed my car and it looked so dull  , so I bought some black color magic, autoglym super-resin polish & extra gloss protection.

I applied all three coats on Sunday, gave it a final buff with a machine and I have to say my beloved looks the dogs ding dongs again.

I think I might try this meguires stuff just to compare the two. :D

Amit.

I used to be a MER man - thought it was grrrreat, though when read on here about digging out the finish coat, was not to happy. Mind you I am still unsure about that - anyone got anymore info on that?

Anyway, now use AutoGlym super Resin (red sticker) and also the extra glos protection (gold sticker) Think that are suuuuper duuuuuper.

Looked at others though it takes me long enough as is to clean it etc. Don't want it to take the whole day!! Is there a one product meguiers wax? then maybe a gloss finish?
Fidgits
As I said above, I use the Gold Class....

Basically, wash, rinse & chammy...

Then the Gold Class, just apply whole car in one go, and buff off..

Then cleaner wax glass finish, as above...

I can do the whole car in 2 hours (inc alloys etc..)
Chris.S
A valeter told me by mixing the Super resin polish with the Gloss protector (half and half), supposed to give a excellent finish.Never tried it though

I'd have thought the super resin polish would pretty much have removed the colour magic, plus the idea of colour magic is it fills in stone chips and scratches with black polish (rather than traditional white which shows scratches up more) but the autoglym would have reversed that too, leaving the white residual.

I did find that Meguiars gold class didn't remove marks such as tar etc as other polishes do but does give a very good shine.
Fidgits
I don't know about removing tar or bugs..

But the Gold class does give a great shine, and the glass finsh is superb....

Just need to order some deep crystal now, for JAPS and JAE...
PQuist
OK I will go for Meguiars but can I get it from Half**ds? If not where can I get one to buy?
