i noticed my exhaust has that typical rusty look... was wondering is there a recommendation on how to restore this back to how it may have oiriginally looked?

just a damp cloth clean and then a steel polish cleaner?

Autosol is your friend. I use it to polish the exhausts on my motorbike.

Once you get it shiney Bee's wax is brilliant for anything Chrome
