I had to say Yes... because I use it as an input for my minidisc player...

But never put a tape in it... infact, I havent had a cassette tape for about 3 years now!

I guess the followon from this would be to ask what you'd want to see in the next IS in terms of entertainment (no Smutty remarks please!)

CD
Tape
MD
DVD-a
DVD
MP3 (and if so in what format? solid state memory card, hard drive or CD based)
DAB

and would you want to pay extra for some of these options? :yack:

I'd like to see the drivers airbag replaced with a Blow-up Doll...

...it won't save my life... but at least I'll go out with a smile :D

Just as long as she doesn't have a cold at the time! :D (think about it!)

I'd like to see an MP3 player at least and I would be quite happy if it read CD's.

I've just bought a 5GB PCMCIA hard disk for my iPAQ and I've bought an FM Modulator - will get that installed sometime.

Seriously, I would like to be able to replace the Tape with a MiniDisc slot...

I know Lexus offer a MD multichanger, but that means you can't have satnav!

As for MP3's.. I have a NetMD player.. so I just copy MP3's onto the minidisc.. with LP4 I can get loads on...
Unity_neil
it would be nice to have an interface to the head unit then which was common and suppoerted by all. Like a USB connector so you could plug in what you wanted then.....hmm theres a thought
Brettster
Plugged into mine at the moment I have a Kenwood MD changer that use's RF and an Apple Ipod 10GIG brimming with music also connected via RF. would be very nice if we could find out how to make a line in using the MD input on the back of the standard head unit things would sound oh so much better RF is just pants for quality :(
Dr Evil
I use my tape player from time time to time for all my old classic 80s electro/breakdance tapes!

Whoops

I use mine to plug in the D.A.B. radio and the minidisc, would love to see a D.A.B. radio in the car as standard, minidisc slot and a port / ports for the lastest technology. :)

I do play tapes regularly although less frequently than the Cd.

I do like analogue music for its warmth and richness.

I must say that the near 50/50 split surprised me! Although the stats are somewhat skewed by those of us using the tape shaped adapters for other things! :P

I do use the tape player for spoken word tapes.

However, the wind and low profile tyre roar is such that I have to set the volume control to 1 o'clock!

Not a tape man, but the other day decided I wanted to listen to a certain Genesis song. Turns out I only had it on one of those old-fashioned tape thingys. Called 'Cassettes' apparently, I'm told they have magnetic tape in them. How quaint! Actually, I'm sure I can remember the tape stuff. Quite good at winding itself round the tape heads as I recall. Also very adept at adding a hissy sound to all your music, my old brian seems to recollect.

Anyhoo, plonked the 'cassette' into the slot, turns out not to be too bad. Nice to re-aquaint my self with the old hiss, but not as hissy as the very cheap tape player thingies I used to have in my cars. You can even rewind and forward to the start/end of each track. Gee, what will they think of next? I bet one day you'll just use discs, with no magnetic tape, where you can go directly to each track. Oh, to dream...

In summary, the cassette player did a fair job, but I won't make a habit of using them in my Lexus, cos even the best tape player thingies will eat your music tapes in the end. Besides, I've thought a lot about these cassette thingys, and to be honest, I don't think they'll ever catch on.
