how do some garages get away with it!! lol

i p/x'ed my altezza for £4250 which i thought was a good price beings that it cost me £1800, the car is repaired with no history, has a noisy thrust bearing, cd player doesn't work, auto headlight is knackered, tracking is out and can't be repaired without some major suspension work and bad rattle from clutch all of which i didn't know much about till i actually drove it a few weeks ago after buying and converting myself as a first owner. i had interest on here but couldn't sell it knowing the problems, the guy at the garage offered me £3500 to begin with due to the small markup he'd make afterwards, after walking out he offered £4000 which was double my money but wanted £4500 we settled on £4250 and now its up for a ridiculous price!!

granted i never mentioned any of the above but he hasn't drove it or even cleaned it before slapping on an over inflated price

i'm not too bothered as i got the price i wanted as i could never sell private with the problems it had but know a few where interested so just a heads up....stay clear of this one

I'm surprised you got away with getting that much money out of him, but I guess not telling him the problems allowed it to happen, though I am surprised the dealer didn't have a good look or drive it, but I guess if he thought he could make a mint on it he probably didn't care that some poor person will come along and part with their hard earned money and go home with a donkey ;)

Hopefully whoever goes & looks knows something & will notice all is not well with the car and steer clear

At 36,000 miles one has to wonder what the hell has happened to it to have half of the problems listed ?

Especially a clutch - was it rally'd ?
Steve ( West Mids )
Did yo have to sign a declaration re. mileage, condition etc. ?
