Full Version: Is The Gs450h Any Better In Snow Than Is250
Lexus Owners Club > Lexus Models > Lexus GS 300 / Lexus GS 250 / Lexus GS 430 / Lexus 450h / Lexus GS 460 Club

I know they are both rear wheel drive, but just wondered if the GS handles better in snow/ice. Does the weight help?
Parthiban
The weight will probably help, but the problem is the tyres, not the car.

I have found the GS to be marginally better than our IS on slippery/icy roads, wouldn't even try the snow lol. Only due to the battery pack weighing so much!!! That and also our GS has smaller profile tyres on the rear, i think this helped.

But as with the IS, the snow setting did bugger all lol!! I'll be putting some winter tyres on the GS this October, this should help :) There will be a set going on my scoob as well, now that will be nice :) :)

My 450h drives me crackers in the snow, not a traction problem as the weight seems to help, the problem is the radar sensor collects the snow so it can not see out then we get endless warnings of PCCS system and cruise control not available, just wish they put a heater element it the sensor and leave me in peace !

It will help - enormously. I will quite happily drive my GS430 around now in the ice and snow, whereas before the winter tyres went on it was almost impossible to drive even in a straight line at 15 mph, so I used to use my girlfriend's Fiesta to get about. I should think the Scoobie will be unstoppable unless the snow is drifting 3 foot deep!!
matt555
um well........... i did get it real wrong in the scooby through the snow :shutit:

got a little cocky and gave it some loud peddle and mounted a kerb lol!! My own fault for sure, but it was funny :whistling:

Winter tyres it is for the GS this year then... :D

I wonder if a group buy would work after summer???????
