Hi all
Just located a breakers yard who are selling a complete navigation system for lexus is200.
I think it is the cd rom version not dvd
Is £850 + vat worth it?
it comes with a 2 months guarantee.
Any one know if it would be A DIY job to connect thge whole system into the car?
Any one out there with nav intelligence..
Thanks

for 850 you could buy an IPAQ (with blue tooth) A Navman Satnav sleeve and software including all of europe and a nice mem car to put maps on. This gives you voice direction on screen mapping (really good) and a cool PDA to boot, plus you can swap from car to car (it hooks up to the cig lighter socket) I use mine all the time!
12 Months guarantee too!
1 connection (ciggy lighter) and suction to the w/screen......

Don't forget, with a lot of the Ipaq mapping software you can get the add on that also gives you fixed speed camera locations also.
Installing the stock system would mean running additional cables around the car. Lexus themselves don't want to do it, but I'm sure it can be done. (It's a different loom)

your right if you prefer a compaq ipaq pda but i prefer a full 7 " screen to view the map.
Or i may purchase the housing only and install a 7" screen in the stock housing and buy a alpine nav unit (£700 good as new)
im confused stock nav or alpine motorised screen and other products i need to purchase ie din in dash compartment. loose standard cd player etc.
Ive got my heart set on stock nav but will give it some thought.

sounds like good value, because the lexus system is very good
however, if you can install a different system in the same housing, that may be a better idea because you get the same look, but could also add extras such as tv tuner, or dvd, etc.

Gonna give it a miss as it only consists of the screen and housing and the cdrom.
May just get a alpine dvd version.

Point out that with the gps, etc missing, he's not going to sell it. Offer him a ton for the screen. At least you will get the full motorised housing, etc.
I'm working on a unit that will be able to use the screen with composite input (For DVD, playstation, camera, etc). If all comes together, you will have that at least.

Hi Geoffer
I will not be purchasing the sat nav, as it only consists of the
cdrom
screen housing
remote
The person i spoke to reduced the price to £750 + vat
i offered him £600 + vat, as i will not be buying the sys.
If any one is interested pm me.
Geoffer let me know how you get on with the unit. Is the unit your developing similar to the motorised housing?
