I am a new member of this forum. I have just got a 09 plate IS220d SE-L (before the facelift model) about 10 days ago. This car has just done about 7200 miles when I got it and already had it first service done. I am loving all the gadgets and comfort of the car. The only thing that bugs me is the fuel consumption. I am getting about 35 mpg for a tank of fuel (mainly city road plus some motorway). It is pretty bad especially I am already very gentle when driving the car (no hard acceleration or breaking). My company car (Vauxhall Astra Estate) can do much better then 35 mpg when I accelerate and break much much harder. I have been reading about people getting the ECU replaced and getting 5th injector changed. Do I need to ask the dealer to do the same thing in order to get better fuel consumption? Is there any tip to get better fuel consumption out of the car?
Thank you very much for your advice and help.

I have just had a 59 plate loaner with 7000 on the clock for three days an IS 220D manual SE, my own car is a petrol auto SEL , the average mileage was 38.5 and it was a pain to drive ! wouldnt pull sixth till well over 60mph and generally DULL ! no way I would change to a diesel .

According to the handbook you shouldn`t be hitting 6th until 75mph.
