i lost my keys and tried starting the car by removing the white ignition module holding the cluster of ignition wires and the car started. at first i thought my keys were hiding in the car but i had locked the car with central lock button on the key. does the altezza start without the key present cos i thought the key has some sort of transmitter in it.

Nope, Altezza's don't run a transponder key so will start without it present. A decent lock smith should be able to cut you a new key by dissembling & reading your ignition barrel if you don't find them.
