Has anyone had any success coping the navigation system DVD? I would like a backup copy.

Dont see a problem if legally own the original and have a DVD writer. Only tried it with the CD version. No trouble at all.

If you are in the London area, I could try for you. I have a DVD writer

I am picking up an LS430 next week, I will try copying the DVD. I always like to use a backup in the player, just in case the original gets damaged. I feel sure that this ok with regards to the software license. Anyway it will confirm whether this is possible or not.

It works ok. I used nero DVD copy on to a DVD+R, dont think it matters if + or -. Copy works fine, I can now keep the original safe. My version is 1.01 Oct 2000. Anyone know what the latest ver is?. When you ring Lexus, they do not seem to know, I always get "we will get you the most recent version sir". I got caught out by this before, ended up with 2 CDs the same for my LS400. :crybaby:

I have version 1- 2002 in my GS430 which is an 03 car
I was told this is the latest
Cheers

Thanks Glyn,

Someone told me that there was a 2003 update due out soon, maybe I will wait for a while to see if this is the case, my version does not have all the Manchester M60 in. Same with other software, usually just buy a copy, then a week later a new version comes out. Ahh such is life

Your dead right there!
Mind you it gives my son a laugh when we are effectively cross country to get to our house as the new bypass near Ashby isn't on!
Can't moan though a mate of mine has the Audi system which is much slower and harder to work!

Can anyone tell me where to get a DVD copy of maps for my DVD player which I have fitted in my 91 400.
Thanks

What system is it Alan

The make of it is Kingavon, its a small DVD player which I have in the glove compartment with the sound going to a FM modulater & the picture split between 2 screens. It says it plays DVD/MP3/CD/CD-R/CD-RW & JPG file photos.
I hope this means something.
Thanks

Are you sure that it is a navigation system and not just an audio player. You should have a seperate dvd/cd unit in boot or somewhere, this also contains the sat RX gyroscope and electronic compass etc. You should also have a GPS patch aerial somwhere in the car (parcel shelf?). I have not heard of this make of nav system, and am not sure that it is such a thing. If you had a system installed it should have been fitted with a map disk and been supplied with a comprehensive manual.

sorry to be a pain but copying your disc is deff not okay with the licence and continued copying really does push up the price of any cd/dvd software for those who buy genuine discs

insider - these guys are only making backup copies of the software they have legally bought.

If you search these forums mate - you'll find plenty of posts from naughty people asking for illegal copies - and these threads are shut down in short order, as this is not something we condone.

i'll consider myself told off then lol

It is only a DVD player not a sat/nav.
