I am looking at buying an IS200 but can't find a web site that summarises the differences that the IS200 spec comes with. eg
What is difference between IS200 /sport / SE.
I need (but dont want) an auto - doing 60 mile e/w on M25 Jcn 6 - Jcn 15 every day so what options come with auto.
What is bhp of each and speed ratings........ all straight forward stuff. (btw - If a manual is umph better than auto - then so be it the choice).
Also - anyone want to swap my Mondao G x (135k) for IS200 - just a thought...... (my budget - approx £12k).
Any help much appreciated

Just a quick summery.........
200 S
alloys 16" (i think)
Cloth interior
No sunroof
200SE
17" Alloys
1/2 leather interior
Sunroof
200Sport
As SE but
tinted rear and back windows
Ltd slip diff
Drilled alloy pedals & alloy scuff plates
2 tone leather stearing wheel
Chrome rear exhaust cover
The auto has cruise control.(no Auto Sport)
All have the same engine and BHP.
The S/SE are ins group 12 and the sport 13.
If i have missed something....im sure this will be pointed out

Also...
200S - 6 speaker stereo system
200SE - 8 speaker stereo system
200 Sport - 8 speaker stereo system, boot lip spoiler
200 SportCross - 9 speaker stereo system, split folding rear seats, a bigger boot!
Auto - Front armrest
I also have a sneaky feeling that seat adjustment on the 200S is manual, while on the SE/Sport it is electric.

hey up matey,
i've got ann auto, was'nt what i was after at first. i know i'm gonna get slated but after driving one for a bit i won't go back, i

love it. i've only got on s. you would'nt guess it though and let me say that driving an auto on the a road is a pleasure, i do a lovely 240 mile trip every other friday and sunday to pick up and drop off my mini-me and don't know why i've driven a manual for so long(i know) so with a few choice mods and a bit of elbow grease your auto can still look like a real car bud.

I'd reccomend either the SE or Sport.. the equipment list is much better than the S, for not much more money.
Between the two, a fews bits of chrome and a LSD, oh, and 1 insurance group...

All three versions have a 154bhp 2.0 VVTi straight-6 engine.
This gives 0-60 in 9.5 secs and a top speed of 135mph (the auto has a slightly lower top speed).
As with most cars the auto box will sap some power, but it is down to personal preference.
My advice is to not look at the IS200 S, and consider either the Sport or SE.
To summarise what you get:
PAS/ABS/Traction/Climate control/all round electric windows/electric sunroof
leather/suede electric adjustable heated seats/17" alloys

Definatley agree don't look at the S. I have just got my SE and added the styling kit to, and they look great. Get out there and grab a test drive. You will not be disapointed. I had the car for a day and made my mind up.
If you add the Style kit ( and Lexus has offers on it) you get excellent 18" Alloys, sports grill, smaller spoiler (on SE) and a skirt added. It is not bad option at the moment. If you want the Sat Nav it is something like an Extra £2k on top of the car.
Also on the Sport the susspension is lowered. Seen as nobody else has said it when get the car ( as you will ) go GOLD well worth it for the discounts!

The plus side for the S is it's £2000 cheaper new than the SE and so buying 2nd hand you can get a lexus on a budget or get newer/lower mileage than the equivalent SE. I bought my S with 18000 miles on and 20 months old for a lot less than I could have got an SE with that mileage/age.
I wasn't bothered about the sunroof as it has air con and with the same set-up on my vauhall I hardly ever used the sunroof. I have kids so I wasn't sure how the half leather interior would stand up to them and I wasn't that bothered about it either.
The big downside is you get naff looking 16" wheels which on the pre-02 model are textured and a pain to clean. But this is easily remedied for a lot less than £2000 - see my avatar.

Thanks - a mine of info and just what I need. Think will go for IS200SE and tweak when funds permit as I need auto and the sport (prefered) doesn't come with that option.
Next thing is to find one. Don't like idea of using main dealer for cost reasons - any suggestions on best place to look. The Great Trade Centre.co.uk have a few higher mileage as do Carland but other thoughts appreciated. Don't have a problem buying private or with distance either.

a 'Sale' weekend with 50 pre-owned Lexus vehicles available prices start at..........£8995

I personally wouldn't buy a car from a car supermarket (did do once and it was a pain). Although there might be a difference in price buying at a dealership, you should get a decent warranty. If you don't want to try a dealers look at other main garages where a Lexus could have been traded in (perish the thought!).
Also, if you've got a model and spec in mind, you could get a Lexus dealer to do a search on what's available nationally. We did this with Honda when my husband was looking for a car and got one the right spec and price from Derby in the end!
