Hello,
I have a Lexus LS430 and want to install a tow bar. This tow bar will be used to tow
a trailer carrying a Caterham 7 Superlight (less than 500KG) and the trailer is
relatively light weight as well. So the total gross weight is relatively small.
Has anyone in the UK had a tow bar installed to an LS430 or any other Lexus? Can you recommend a company to do this?
Cheers

I had one put on by a local firm on a 96 LS. This was about 4 years ago. I think it cost about £170ish. If you are only towing light trailers there should not be a problem. If you need to pull along a caravan or such, then I really think you will need to have a cooler fitted.

Hi- I have been struggling to find LS towbars. They are available from Brinks ( manufacturers) at about £270 +vat ( detacheable) but it seems only for 1990 to 1998 models. I am told that they also have one for the post year 2000 models but not in between! Lexus quoted me about £960 for the bar only. Does anyone have a bar ( up to year 2000 ) they would sell me?

I enquired of my local dealer about a year ago and they said about £1700 as the car needs to have additional oil coolers etc fitted. Bought a Range Rover instead just to do the towing!

Just one more bit of info. I have checked with my local Lexus parts dept. The towbar part nos for the 1995/1998 and the post 1998 LS400 are the same. So perhaps the Watling towbar fits the 1998 model as well ? But may not be type approved as the legislation changed during 1998. Lexus do recommend a transmission oil cooler - I suppose it depends on what you tow?

Hi, Yes the the part number is for a Brink bar is 329100. I bought mine from Towequipe for £280. Don't know whether they still do them . They are also very easy to fit but you will need a hand .

I installed a towbar from Watling Engineering on my 95 MKiii.
A good piece of kit and can be detachable with the removal of just 2 bolts.
