As some of you may know, I've been planning on buying some US show polish from Griots Garage to bring to JAE...

After deciding on their $70 'starter pack', which inlcudes most products I'd be interested in, I ordered it...

They have now contacted me, to tell me that they had a problem with shipping, and will need to UPS it to me, at a cost of $95!!!

They have said I can cancel the order, but I don't know what to do :crybaby:
Fargo
do you not have a US head office at all, get it shipped there, and ask them to end it over.. maybe
Fidgits
I'd thought about that.. considering we ONLY have offices in the US...

I might have to make a call tonight to see...

I don't know Ian - your looking at nearly £100 for a kit from the states.... that could buy you an awful lot of Meguiers....

Very good point Zee...

I've cancelled the order, I suppose I can always order it to the office for the next time I go over...

Not only will the shipping be more than the order you'll also get stung by customs.

I ordered a bulb for $45.99 as I couldn't get it over here, then had to pay $30 shipping and then over £20 import duty. Worked out to be a very expensive bulb! They seem to charge import duty and VAT on the full price paid (including the shipping costs).

Yep that's right.

Duty is charged on the full cost of the goods at their point of import.
So typically that's the invoice price + shipping + insurance.

Then once they've added the duty to that total ... they add VAT.
Yep, that's right, you pay VAT on the Duty too
