Hi guys
My first post on the forum! unfortunately it also come with a cry for help.
the climate control doesn't allow me to change from blowing from to face to foot well, on to windscreen etc. It's stuck on blowing to the face. Everything else on the unit works however(AC, temp etc). I tried replacing the unit, same part no. and still the same problem.
Few things that have crossed my mind of what it could be are:
1)wrong part- When I bought the car the problem was already present-perhaps previous owner messed up. If so I need part number for 2001 is200 climate control unit
2)Broken fuse - somewhere i don't know- since I haven't heard it work I assume it's driven by a drive/step motor-hence needs fuse (i'm assuming)
3)motor broken - the actual unit which controls the direction of air flow is faulty- again I need part number
4)fault in the loom - previous owner had put original cd/tape deck back in after having cut the wires- I doubt it was DIY though, the wiring looked the goods but even monkeys fall off trees-I really hope it's not due to this- I just don't have the patience
5)car hates me and wishes i never bought it-wants to go back to its previous "parent buying out of the box new merc" owner
if you guys have had the same or similar problem please let me know if any of the above is on the right train of thinking
