There is no sound on my stereo although the display, tape and CD are working. I've checked both fuses for the stereo in the engine compartment and drivers footwell and they are fine. Any suggestions?
TigerFish
Which two fuses have you checked?
Yarpy
Thanks for your reply.

The two fuses I checked were the the two marked 'radio', one was in the engine compartment and the other in the drivers footwell.

OK, I don't recall any labelled as "Radio" when I had mine.

"Rad No1" supplied the perm 12v to the amp in the boot.

"DOME" suppied the perv 12v to the headunit.

"CIG" supplied the switched 12v to the headunit and amp (plus other items in the car).

"Panel" supplied the illumination for the headunit and the eject button on the CD changer (along with the other illuminated items in the car via the brightness rheostat).

If they are all ok, then you will need to start looking at power feeds and earth points. The amp is located under the cd changer in the boot, so if you have had any water leaks into the boot, the amp could get flooded.

Thanks for the info. My CD is located in the glove box but I will do some more checking.
TigerFish
Are you sure you have a series 1 in that case? What year is it? In my signature line below, I have a pic of the mk1 and mk2 GS's I've had, is yours like the red or blue one?
Yarpy
Apologies, My car is like the blue one. It is '98 year model.
TigerFish
Ah ok, that is a mk2.

"Radio No.1" is the perm 12V to the amp, located by the side of the footwell next to the glovebox.

"Radio No.2" is the switched 12v to the headunit and changer.

"DOME" is the perm 12v to the headunit and changer.

The switched 12v to the amp is routed via the headunit.

Thanks again. Checked all the fuses you suggested, but still no joy. Obviously, I need to look at the head unit in the glove box area next.

I know it was a while ago but how did you sort it in the end? I've got the same prob with a mk1.

Sorry but cannot help you as I am still without sound. I personally do not dare dismantle the head unit and am still trying to locate someone locally who specializes in these things.
