Hi All,

have just completed 5K in my w2000 is200

Just after receiving it (at 40K miles), I had to take it in to get the brakes sorted... Warped brake discs....

However, I was going through past servicing receipts, and at 21K miles, it also had a new set of discs on.

Now, in my limited knowledge of cars, this doesn't seem normal. The car is in good nick, and stone chips are pretty rare on the front, so it hasn't done to much tough driving...

answers on the back of a self addressed envelope....

It may be because the previous owner used aftermarket
brake pads(assuming they are LEXUS discs) as this will
wear out the disc quite quickly if not matched :excl:

It has a full lexus service history (so I would imagine lexus parts).

However, I still think 3 sets of discs in three years is a bit excessive.

Very excessive,Something is wrong then, coz mine is almost three
years old and on original discs.Get it checked out this is not normal

Definitely something wrong there :o

By way of a comparison, got a Nissan 200SX that did 80K miles before needing new front disks - and that mileage included some pretty severe braking :whistling: :shifty:

Is it automatic??

Toyotas have always been sensitive to incorrect torque of the wheel nuts. I have seen lots of documented cases of warped discs on MR2, Supras and a few Lexus due to too tight wheel nuts.

I cannot remember the correct setting - it should be in the owners manual.
Loz
Any half decent tyre garage will have the torque setting for your wheel nuts. cant rember what mine are but then its a GS anyway so probly not help you....

Cheers chaps. I'll keep an eye on them and get the garage to check the torque

Thanks again,
