NEOCON
Hello,

I seem to be loosing coolant at an alarming rate in my IS200. I filled up the expansion tank to above half way mark on sunday morning on the way to TRAX and I checked it this morning and the level is showing empty :o

I cannot see any evidence of the coolant leaking anywhere: the engine bay is all dry and there is never any wet marks under the car. There is however some dry yellow-ish residue next to the water pump so I wonder if it is somehow evaporating through it.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what else I should check around the engine for any obvious signs?

check the water pump, are you sure the radiator is ok? It's not rusty is it? Check for holes and other damage on the radaitor.

I had a quick look at the radiator earlier and there seems to be a wet spot at the bottom of it, where the undertray sits. This is on the passenger side of the radiator. Is that where the drain plug is located?

I believe a lot of car radiators go along the bottom. Worth getting a radiator repair place have a look. You may get a recon one. Probably fits a range of Toyotas.

I already had a look on fleabay and new radiators seem to be reasonable cost. I think I'll get under the car this weekend and take a proper look at it. I hope the drain plug is just loose otherwise I'll just buy a new rad.

On a different note - is the water pump easy to replace? I've just ordered a new one.
